Summer greetings to everyone!
It has been a very wet spring, but we hope that everyone is finally
able to get their fieldwork done. Recently we were at the Quebec Pork
Expo, and producers there were faced with the same wet fields.
Unfortunately, this is one time where shared grief does not lighten
the load.
Recently we have appointed Albert Eringfeld of Polar Genetics as our sales representative for Western Canada. Albert has an extensive history in the swine industry but is still somewhat new to AI. He has, however, been asking many questions and is learning the ropes very fast. Polar Genetics is a marketing specialist working to develop breeding stock sales outside of Canada. Albert lives in Edmonton Alberta and can be reached at 403-944-2575 (phone) or 403-944-2601 (fax). He will carry some inventory at his office, but large orders will be shipped directly from Ontario. Please allow sufficient shipping time for your orders. It generally takes at least 5 working days to ship orders to Western Canada.
In our last newsletter we passed on our official hours. These hours will not change for the summer months. 8:00 a.m. - 5:00 p.m. By chance only -- leave a message and we'll get back to you ASAP! Jim and Astrid will be on the road for much of June. If you have a problem, and would like to talk to us please call the office and leave a message with Jacqui. We will keep in touch with the office and try to get back to you within 24 hours.
ITSI has recently moved into the manufacturing field. We are now assembling our spiral catheters right here in Princeton, Ontario. The parts too are moulded in Canada. This is a great opportunity to buy Canadian! Since we are now assembling the catheters ourselves, we can lower the price dramatically. Spiral catheter with the handle will be priced as follows: $ 235.00/500 spiral catheters $ 49.00/100 spiral catheters Unless you specify 2 catheters per package, they will be packaged in fives (5). We are now able to offer spiral catheters without handles as well. These can be used with IMV's cochette packaging system, or 18" tubing extension. For prices on these custom- catheters please inquire. ITSI now carries Androhep extender. This product is marketed as a 7-day extender, however, we strongly recommend that you still collect semen every three to four days. Please note, when using this product you will find that there is a lot of foaming. Always pour the extender down the side of the receptacle vessel; this will keep the foaming to a minimum.
If your Koolatron goes on the blink we don't mind taking them in for repair. The units should, however, be cleaned up before they go out for repair. We will get them back to you as quick as possible, but cannot make a special trip to pick- up or return you unit. You have the option of shipping the defective unit in an original box to our office. We will get it repaired and ship it back to you as soon as we can. |
For us the arrival of June is the start of a busy month with trade shows. We will be exhibiting at World Pork Expo, Alberta Pork Expo and Ontario Pork Congress. The location and dates for these shows have been included for your reference and convenience. If you are at any of these shows, stop in to say "Hi." It is always great to see a familiar face. International Pig Topics is once again hosting a pre-WPX conference on the 5th of June. The program is entitled "Focusing on AI" If you have a chance to go, this conference's international speakers should provide an interesting perspective on AI. In conjunction with the swine industry shows on during June ITSI will have the following two specials for the entire month.
This is a great opportunity to stock up on supplies. Delivery can be postponed until such time as you require the supplies. Regular payment terms will apply. (due by the 20th of the following month {July}).
It is our goal to make "Under the Lens" as much your newsletter as it is ours. Please feel free to suggest topics which could be discussed here. They do not have to relate to AI either. It is impossible for one person to know everything (though granted we often try to ... ). We can all learn from each other's experiences, and would like to hear yours.
